The Crooked End Supper Club is officially mobile. We are so pleased that the evenings here at the farm have been such a success that we have decided to provide another Supper Club night in Vowchurch. The date for your diaries is Saturday 30th June – a little way off yet but we are very excited by this new venture. This months Supper Club here at the farm is fully booked, surely a sign of good food and fine company!

It has been operation chicken house on the farm over the past couple of weeks, we have a couple of caravans which are being lovingly converting into 5 star chicken houses. They will be clad in beautiful wood and be furnished with quality perches and nesting boxes. As some of you may know our hens are having an extended Easter break and have been somewhat unproductive, we are hoping that the new housing will appease them and encourage less sporadic egg laying.

Kate – out wonderful chef – will appear in the Forester newspaper next Thursday in a special ‘Meet the Chef’ feature. Photos were taken yesterday in the café kitchen of Kate and a selection of beautiful pies.

Lambing is nearly over, one of James’ lambs produced a healthy set of quads last week – and no matter what Bruce thinks, no amount of cajouling, treat giving or shouting at Crooked End Eric will make him produce even a single lamb – see attached photo of Eric.

What is going on? So far this week we have been basking in shorts and t shirts and overheating in polytunnels, and now, wrapped up in scarves and hats and throwing extra wood into the boiler. The farm was engulfed in a blizzard yesterday morning much to the consternation of lambs and wwoofers.

We said goodbye to Australian Laura and GB Laura over the past week as they continue on their adventures to far flung countries, but we do now have Aaron and Andrew who have been rejuvenating the feed store to make it rodent proof.

Brenda and Shirkara were flying the (slightly cold and damp) flag for Crooked End at the market in Hereford yesterday. We are out in all weathers!! I however was warmly ensconced in the van delivering your wonderful veggie boxes. Brenda will be at the market in Monmouth tomorrow instead of Saturday this week so do call in for wonderful pies and other scrummy things.

Our supper club next week is booked up, but don’t forget that we are planning on another supper club venue in Vowchurch.

We all hope you have a wonderful Easter, our deliveries will be as normal next week.

Best wishes from the Crooked End Team
