We are all enjoying the wonderful spring weather and lengthening days – and so is our salad crop; it is reawakening from their winter dormancy and tempting us with a taster of beautiful, tender leaves. I am cautiously optimistic of a good crop this year. If we don’t it is not through lack effort on the part of the wonderful Manu!
We said goodbye to one wwoofer and hello to another this week. Our regular visitor Nicolai has returned to Italy to resume his studies having spent a few weeks with us working on the farm and being Kate’s favourite sous chef. We do hope to see him again soon. But, we welcome back another old wwoofer, Laura, who helped us enormously over Christmas.
Our second green gym session last Saturday went well. I have attached a photo of one of the day’s tasks which was planting new hedging plants along a new fence line behind the pig pens. Why not come along to our next Green Gym day on Saturday 31st March and see what farm activities you can take part in?
And don’t forget to book your place for our next supper club on Saturday 17th March at 7:30pm . We have already taken quite a few bookings so do get in touch if you would like to come.
Our scrumptious veg boxes this week will contain a variety of the following
Cauliflower – it’s back!!!
Flat Mushroom
Pepper
Beetroot
Leek
Red kale
Best wishes
Annette and all at Crooked End
PS – no lambs yet!
