There is much celebration at Crooked End again this week, we have another
string to add to our expanding bow of awards after our Boeuf Bourguignon pie
was presented with a bronze in the Taste of the West awards. How fantastic
is that! Kate, our pie maker, has again done us all proud. So, if you
haven’t already tried one may I personally recommend you sample one of our
Award Winning Boeuf Bourguignon pies!
Elsewhere I was lucky enough to witness the amusing sight of Manu and Jack
attempting to move the pigs to a new area, they are tricky customers these
pigs. I believe they are now ensconced in their new area and fortunately
Manu and Jack still have functioning limbs.
Ben, our resident carpenter, has also been busy creating. His latest
commission is a wonderful Sweet Chestnut and Hazel bench. I’ve attached a
photo as it is just beautiful.
Attached is our product list of tasty stuff for this week (did I mention the
award winning Boeuf Bourguignon pie?)
Best Wishes
Annette and all the other Crooked Enders.

One week courgettes, the next beetroot – the crops are coming thick and
fast! The weather is being good to our produce, there seems to be a good
combination of sun and rain at the moment which is encouraging the root
crops to swell and the leafy crops to produce luscious foliage. I was
talking with a customer in our shop today who was amazed by the lettuce
which was picked for her, she described it as a rosette. We are currently
offering these beautiful lettuces at 2 for £1 – try your own lettuce
rosette!
You may have read that the apple crops are early this year, we have managed
to source some organic Discovery and Bramley apples from Herefordshire. I
can personally vouch for their tastiness!
Crooked End is also spreading their wings and the word of organic food,
Matias has secured a place at Bristol market. He and Shirkara will be there
this Saturday. If you are in Skenfrith this Saturday come and say hello to
me as I attend my first market for Crooked End. Whilst Brenda is still at
Hereford on Wednesdays, Hay on Wye on Thursdays and Leominster on Fridays.

The summer months, and August in particular, are famous for their bountiful
courgette crops and here at Crooked End that is no exception. Look out for
our new recipe cards in your boxes, this weeks is a tasty Courgette and
Bulgur wheat salad. I am building a database of recipes to include as recipe
cards in the boxes, it would be interesting to hear from you if you have any
recipes which you have found to be a winner with you and your families.
Our pies continuing to gain in popularity, why not try one and have it
delivered with your box? Made from home reared organic meat and tasty
organic vegetables they are certainly something not to be missed.
Also, don’t forget we are offering deals on our salad packs (2 for £2.25)
and spinach (2 for £2).
Thank you for getting your orders in slightly earlier last week, for those
who are not aware could all orders for Wednesday delivery be placed by
Monday night and orders for Thursday delivery be placed by Tuesday night.
Attached is out product list of tasty produce for the coming week.
