Summer ?

Something seems be going on – dare it be called summer? It’s certainly very
uplifting and a welcome break from the rain of the past few weeks. Alice -
one of the wwoofers – might say different however as she is having to get
up very early to harvest in the polytunnel before it gets too hot in there,
but it does mean she is picking the salad at its best and it does look and
taste fantastic.

Annette has survived her first week and doesn’t seem to have broken the computer
system! We hope that you have still found everything to be running smoothly
and that your questions and queries have been answered quickly.

Attached is our product list for the coming week.

Hello All,

This is my first week at Crooked End and it seems to be flying by! There ‘s
a different face to meet around nearly every corner along with familiarising
myself with the structure of things here. So, please bear with me while I
come up to speed, but I am always your first port of call for all things
veg box related.

The farm is getting into the swing of summer (what summer I hear you say!),
the squash and pumpkin patch is a riot of flowers and swelling gourds and
the salad polytonal looks fantastic with all the different colours of leaf
and flower.

Anya tells me that there was much fun and games yesterday morning as they
were chasing uncooperational pigs around before breakfast. I’m glad to
inform you that Anya and Brenda won the battle and the pigs were eventually
herded onto the trailer.

In other news, we have some tasty new season Crooked End lamb available next
week – reserve yours now, either individual cuts, whole animals, or 5kg
economy packs.

Dear Everyone

A couple of announcements:

  • This Thursday Anya will be at Food & Craft Festival at Chepstow Comprehensive School , from 4pm.
  • In addition to our usual markets we are also now permanent fixtures at Hereford Market on a Saturday.

Unsurprisingly all of this extra activity is putting extra pressure on our current farm shop (see attached picture). The good news, however, is that we are making good progress on our new farm shop. The walls have been painted, and the windows are being fitted this week. Next the cold room will be fitted and the floor will be laid. The bad news for all of our local customers though is that the imminent upgrade to our electricity supply entails a 2 day road closure. All we can say is…sorry!

However, road closures or not we will be delivering as usual on Wednesday and Thursday. If there is anything that you’d like from our produce list please let us know

Best wishes

Brenda, Bruce, Barrie and Anya
