Crooked End Farm Produce – the boiler is lit!
Dear Everyone – The good people at oxford renewables have finished their work and we now have biomass heating ! www.oxfordrenewables.co.uk
The biomass boiler has been lit, and we are in the process of warming up a 2000L tank of hot water with woodheat only. This may not sound exciting, but as I told our builder, it is the beginning of a new beginning for Crooked End Farm. Our old oil boiler is now in the barn, providing a roost for our free ranging chickens, while the redundant oil tank is rapidly disappearing underneath some particularly enthusiastic honeysuckle.
Not that we are complaining about the rain, but it has meant that we haven’t been able to shear the sheep yet. Eric (pictured, of Facebook fame), is looking cylindrical in his shaggy winter coat. If we have a couple of dry days we hope to have another go on Sunday.
Attached is our weekly produce list. If there is anything that you’d like us to deliver on Wednesday or Thursday, please let us know by Tuesday

Dear Everyone
Not a lot to report this week other than the fact that it is raining!
Things will back to normal this week, with our markets at Hereford on Wednesday, Hay-on-Wye on Thursday, Leominster on Friday and Skenfrith on Saturday week. Oxford Renewables are doing a great job installing our new biomass boiler – we’ll wave goodbye to the oil tank in less than 2 weeks!
Meanwhile we are furiously planting salads and spinach to replace the plants that have bolted in the spell of hot weather, plus the usual summer beans and beetroots.
We will still find time to deliver as usual on Wednesday and Thursday. As ever, there is no minimum delivery or delivery fee, so you don’t have to waste petrol money driving to the shops!
