It is hard to believe that not so long ago we were bemoaning a lack of rain! We are certainly making up for any precipitation shortage now, and this week’s outdoor markets have been a test of character. On the home front the rain has heralded a return to the famous Crooked End mud. Last Spring we improved a drainage ditch and planted willow cuttings to try to reduce the run-off from Spring Field that leaves Pond Field (Bog Field?) waterlogged every winter. Our efforts seem to have slightly improved the situation, but it is a long term project. Looking ahead, we hope that we will be able to coppice the willow cuttings to feed the new biomass boiler that will supply the new shop and farmhouses with heat and hot water.

In the meantime, get in touch for our weekly selection of scrumptious organic and local food, and also our Christmas offers !

Yours in muddy boots – the Crooked Enders

Can you imagine us dressed in Victorian costume selling organic produce in Leominster in support of their mid-December late night Christmas Shopping? No, me neither. Well, not the dressing up bit anyway. We will, however, be supporting the first ever Abergavenny Christmas Food Fair on Sunday 5th December www.abergavennyfoodfestival.com/christmasfair/index.html, and the Hay-on-Wye Christmas Food Fair on Saturday 27th November, dressed in our finest…green aprons. For those of you preferring to take advantage of the convenience of our home delivery service, we will be sending out our Christmas order forms shortly!
