The leaves are starting to turn, we have been celebrating harvest festival, and we have started making soup! Highly recommended veggies for hearty winter soups are squashes (did anyone try our roast squash soup at the Forest Food Showcase last weekend?), leeks, potatoes, and even beetroot (honestly! Bruce made a really nice beetroot soup the weekend before last.) Find these and more on our attached produce list.

We have also got in some of Diana Smart’s award winning Single and Double Gloucester cheeses. Although these cheeses aren’t certified organic, Diana’s rare breed Gloucester cattle have an idyllic life. We have built up a great relationship with Diana over the past few years through renting her loveable (?) Gloucester Old Spot boar Fred, and love the idea of supporting her cheese business too. And to be honest, we think her cheese is fantastic and everyone should try it. Over the next few weeks we hope to be sourcing more interesting local and where possible, organic, cheeses to take to our market stall at Hereford and to supply our shop and delivery customers. If you have any special requests please let us know…

In the meantime, we will be delivering Wednesdays and Thursdays. If there is anything that you’d like please let us know by Monday. And if you have a stockpile of our delivery or egg boxes in your garage or porch, we are happy to re-use and/or recycle them for you. We can collect when we make our next delivery.

Have a lovely weekend

Best wishes

Brenda, Bruce, Barrie and Anya – the Crooked End Team

PS no news from the bank yet about our overdraft to help with our new farm shop ….keep your fingers crossed for us please!
